CHI takes GBV/Mental Health to PWDs and Apir Community Members
Sensitization Program on GBV and Mental Health On Thursday, April 10, 2025, Cheerful Hands Initiative (CHI) collaborated with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Sexual Assault Referral Centre ( SARC), Benue State Rehabilitation Board Board (BSRB) and Benue State Ministry of Health and Human Services to organize a sensitization program in Apir Community, Makurdi, Benue State. The program aimed to: 1. Promote inclusion of Persons with Disabilities 2. Raise awareness on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and its hazards 3. Provide steps to shield oneself from GBV 4. Foster better mental health The program covered topics such as: 1. Rape and sexual harassment 2. Human trafficking 3. Child labour 4. Benue State Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) Participants included: 1. Children with disabilities from the Benue State Rehabilitation Board school 2. Members of the Apir Community in Makurdi Local Government Area.
