CHI Attends Refresher Training on SGBV Intervention and Prevention Strategies
Cheerful Hands Initiative (CHI) recently participated in a transformative 3-day Refresher Training and Dialogue on Intervention and Prevention Strategies for Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) held on Monday, 2nd - Thursday, 4th December 2024 at ELOHIM Foundation Hall, Makurdi-Benue State . The training, aimed at duty bearers and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), brought together key stakeholders to enhance collective capacity in addressing the alarming prevalence of SGBV within communities. Sponsored by SIDE BY SIDE Movement for Gender Justice in collaboration with Association Against Child SGBV (AACSGBV) hosted in an atmosphere of teamwork and knowledge sharing, the program focused on equipping participants with updated strategies to prevent, respond to, and mitigate the effects of SGBV. Topics such as survivor-centered approaches, effective reporting mechanisms, and community-driven interventions were explored through interactive workshops, panel discussions, and case studies. CHI’s representatives actively engaged in discussions on integrating these strategies into ongoing programs. Emphasis was placed on fostering partnerships with government agencies, law enforcement, and grassroots organizations to create a safer and more inclusive environment for women and girls. This training reinforced CHI’s commitment to combatting SGBV as part of its broader mission to promote gender equality and protect vulnerable populations. By applying the knowledge gained, CHI aims to strengthen its efforts in advocacy, awareness campaigns, and providing critical support for survivors. As CHI moves forward, the organization calls on all stakeholders to join hands in the fight against SGBV. Together, we can build a society free from violence and discrimination, where everyone has the right to live with dignity and security.
