CHI JOINS MINISTRY OF WOMEN AFFAIRS AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, IOM AND OTHER CSOS FLAGS OFF 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM

A Rallying Cry Against Gender-Based Violence

On November 25, 2024, the Cheerful Hands Initiative (CHI) joined the global movement to eliminate Gender-Based Violence (GBV) by launching its 16 Days of Activism campaign in Benue State. The flag-off event, themed “Unite to End Violence Against Women and Girls”, was a powerful call to action for individuals, communities, and policymakers to stand together against GBV. A Day of Purpose and Unity The campaign began with a vibrant rally in Makurdi, bringing together students, community leaders, civil society organizations, and youth groups. Participants marched with banners and placards bearing messages of hope and resistance, such as “Break the Silence, End the Violence” and “Equal Rights, Safe Lives”. “This is not just a women’s issue; it’s a societal problem. Together, we can build a community where women and girls live free from fear and violence,” she stated. ________________________________________ Looking Ahead As the campaign unfolds, CHI invites everyone to join the fight against GBV. Whether through volunteering, spreading awareness, or donating to support survivors, every action counts. “Together, we can end the cycle of violence and create a safer, more equitable world for all,” the CHI team reaffirmed as the event concluded.
